Alastair Morrison
Alastair Morrison is an International businessman who has a wide experience of emerging markets particularly in the Security, Aviation, Life Support and Defence fields.
He was a commissioned Officer in the Scots Guards and the Special Air Service (SAS) for 20 years. He was awarded the Military Cross during the war in Dhofar, Oman and was decorated for his part in the successful hostage rescue operation of German passengers and crew held on board a Lufthansa aircraft at Mogadishu, Somalia in 1977.
On leaving the Army he founded Defence Systems Limited (DSL), which he built into the leading provider of specialist security and life support services in remote and hostile locations, serving most of the world’s leading Mining, Oil and Gas, and Infrastructure companies as well as providing outsourcing services to the US and UK Governments and the United Nations. He formed an Aviation Security company for British Airways, Aviation Defence International (ADI), in the early 90s. DSL was the main provider of logistics support manpower for the UN operation in former Yugoslavia during the mid 90s. He sold DSL to Armor Holdings, an American Public company in 1998. Both DSL and ADI were subsequently bought by G4S.
He has invested in a number of specialist support services companies where he has also acted as Chairman and NED, including Kroll Security International, Exploration Logistics plc, and Erinys Holdings. He has served on the boards of several other companies, including two public companies; Rockwood Holdings and Security Centres. He acts as Board Advisor to a number of companies including the HART Group.
Alastair is experienced in acquisitions, funding and onward sales of specialist support service companies; entry to and development of emerging markets; Government outsourcing; Defence related research and Development.
