Patrick Stephansen
Patrick Stephansen is a highly experienced investment manager with over twenty-five years experience gained in London, Hong Kong and Oslo.
He has a degree in Economics and Business from the University of Bruxelles (Universitie Liebe du Bruxelles).
He joined Hambros Bank in 1979, a merchant bank with substantial Scandinavian and shipping finance business. Three years later he joined Scandinavian Bank and played an important role in developing the Banks shipping business into a leading provider of shipping finance to the Scandinavian market. This was followed by three years in the Corporate Finance department.
In 1990 he joined the Mosvold Farsund Group (MF), a substantial Norwegian privately owned investment and shipping group. He was responsible for the operations outside Norway, in particular London and Hong Kong. Over the following 14 years he directed their investment activities making investments across a full range of asset classes, in particular venture and private equity, but also funds and listed securities. The Groups investments were mostly in Northern Europe, including UK, and the US, with particular focus on technology, engineering (oil & gas, renewable energy), healthcare, transport and cruise. The MF group established one of the first venture fund operations in Norway (Teknoinvest Management), and he served on several fund boards for a number of years.
He lived in Hong Kong for over four years managing the Groups Asian investment company. From 2000 until 2004 he was CEO of Glastad Capital, following a restructuring of Mosvold Farsund.
He has initiated and executed a number of investments and has also been an active private investor. He has had a close relationship with Imperial Innovation, the commercialization unit of Imperial College, London, since 2000 and has been a non executive director of a number of companies. Currently he serves on the board of Toumaz Technologies, Future Waves UK Ltd and Tailwind Shipping Ltd.
He is married with two children.
