Maurice Burke Roche – 6th Baron Fermoy

Maurice Fermoy was born Hon Maurice Roche on 11th October 1967. He was brought up on the family estate at Hungerford, Berks, attending the all-boys boarding school Summer Fields near Oxford. He passed into Eton in 1981. In 1984 Maurice's father died and he inherited his title thus changing his surname from Roche to Fermoy, becoming the 6th Baron Fermoy.

His family have a long connection to the British Royal family. His grandmother was a Lady-in-Waiting to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and subsequently Maurice was appointed Page of Honour to Her Majesty from 1982 to 1984.

Lord Fermoy was educated at Eton and then passed into the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst and was subsequently commissioned into the Household Cavalry, The Blues and Royals.  His postings included that of a Troop Leader at the Household Cavalry Mounted Regiment in Knightsbridge, carrying out Queen's Life Guard duties at State Ceremonials including State Visits, The State Opening of Parliament by The Queen, The Lord Mayor's Show, The Garter Service at Windsor and The Queen's Birthday Parade on Horse Guards Parade.

In 1981 he attended the Royal Wedding of Lady Diana Spencer to HRH Prince Charles, Prince of Wales.  Diana's mother, Frances Shand-Kydd, was the elder sister of Maurice's father, Edmund Fermoy, thus making Maurice a first cousin of Diana, Princess of Wales. Since his life in the Army Maurice has become a successful businessman.
